JIYO AUR JEEVAN DO
The God Almighty has blessed us with lot of bounties, better than a lot many if we look upon our Nation. This realisation motivated a few of our colleagues to come together and make an effort to return a little back to the society in one form or another. Though the efforts have been small yet we have been able to do them consistently over past more than 20 years.
First thing that came to our mind was Blood Donation and we started holding the Blood Donation Camps in 2001. We are fortunate that we have been able to regularly hold these camps and on the way, were able to fix the National Days of 26th January and 15th August, for holding the Camps. It is a matter of immense pride and satisfaction that we have been able to hold 56 camps so far, contributing 8322 units.
Over a period of time, the Blood Donors have become very regular Donors, waiting for 26th January and 15th August. It serves the dual purpose of noble job of blood donation as well as observing the National Festivals with lot of reverence and discharging social responsibility.
During our journey, we came across the legend of this field, Prof. Dr. J. G. Jolly, the Pioneer of the Voluntary Blood Donation Movement in India, who started this mission in 1963. He later went on to establish the Department of Blood Transfusion Medicine in P.G.I.M.E.R. Chandigarh, devising the Curriculum for the Masters. He was sent on deputation to P.G.I. Lucknow also for establishing the Blood Transfusion Department there. He was very kind to us, attended most of our Camps personally and always motivating us to continue the most noble mission of Blood Donation. Blood Donation is termed as the most Noble Cause as there is no substitute of Blood.
Blood Donation and Transfusion is the only way to save the lives of Accident Victims & other patients in need of Blood. Thalassemia Patients also require the Blood on regular intervals. Voluntary Blood Donation helps to meet the requirement of such critical patients.
Presently, the technology facilitates division of the single unit of blood into 4 components which benefits 4 different patients and save 4 precious lives.
We realize the need and the importance of Blood, ONLY WHEN WE NEED it in the case of an emergency. As such, our aim has always been to spread awareness about Blood Donation besides physically contributing to the max.
